Google Ads Now Creates Video with Gemini Omni

Google has added the Gemini Omni model to Asset Studio, a tool within its advertising platform. Advertisers can now generate videos in multiple formats from a creative brief, brand guidelines and existing assets, then place them straight into a campaign. The update is designed to speed up the production of creative variations for Demand Gen, Performance Max and other Google and YouTube campaigns.

Starting August 25, the new multimodal video creation tools inside Asset Studio run on Google DeepMind's Gemini Omni model. An advertiser enters brand guidelines and a website URL, writes a creative brief or picks one of the existing static assets — Gemini Omni then automatically builds a video storyboard and generates the moving scenes.

The process runs in four stages: defining the brand, generating concepts, refining the creative and publishing the finished asset. Once brand guidelines and a URL are entered, the system proposes initial variants based on prompts or existing creative. The advertiser then fine-tunes scenes, voiceover, pacing and aspect ratio with additional commands before exporting the result straight into the campaign.

Edits are made in natural language, so there's no need to rebuild the video from scratch. Gemini Omni retains the context of previous instructions, making the workflow feel like an ongoing conversation. Google says the model applies a reasoning process when constructing scenes, aiming not simply to produce a realistic image but to choose each next action in keeping with the brand's standards.

Gemini Omni can produce horizontal 16:9 and vertical 9:16 videos at the same time, reducing the need to prepare separate assets for different platform placements. Finished videos move from Asset Studio directly into Demand Gen, Performance Max and other Google and YouTube campaigns, completing the entire journey from brief to campaign within a single system.

Producing video creative in multiple formats has traditionally been an expensive, time-consuming task. Building generation and editing capabilities directly into Google Ads could cut that process down significantly. Even so, advertisers still need to check for themselves how well AI-generated videos match their brand standards, rather than leaving that judgment entirely to Gemini Omni's interpretation. In doing so, Google is turning Asset Studio into a full-fledged AI video production environment — one that takes a brief all the way through to on-brand, multi-format video assets.
