TikTok Live Adds AI-Generated Intro Captions

TikTok has rolled out a new AI-powered tool in its Live broadcast composer. The tool generates a brief summary about the livestream host and the topic of the broadcast, which the host can share with viewers at the tap of a button. The feature was first spotted and shared on Threads by app researcher Radu Oncescu.
Such a tool could be useful for giving viewers quick context about a livestream. However, practitioners note it's still unclear how accurate these descriptions are and how the underlying AI process actually works.
The move is part of a broader trend of social platforms and AI vendors looking for new ways to use technology to improve the user experience. At the same time, the industry continues to debate the real value and necessity of such small automated features — some observers argue they merely replace tasks that weren't especially complex for users to begin with, without adding meaningful value.
Still, this is a continuation of TikTok's strategy to enrich its livestreaming format and keep users on the platform longer — the company has been rolling out a steady stream of new features to its Live section in recent months.
