Content Creators Are Building GEO Strategies to Get Noticed in AI Search

Growing an audience on social media is no longer enough — creators now also need visibility in AI-powered search engines to get noticed by brands and agencies. To do that, they're adopting a new approach called GEO, or Generative Engine Optimization.
GEO is an extension of traditional SEO, except the goal isn't ranking in Google search — it's being mentioned and recommended in the answers given by AI assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity. For creators, this is no longer just about visibility; it's becoming a channel for landing partnerships with brands and agencies.
The problem is that there's no proven, unified playbook for this yet. According to Digiday, creators are relying on trial and error to figure out which content formats, tone of voice, and platforms get 'read' and cited most often by AI systems.
This is creating a new competitive arena within the creator economy: a creator's market value is now shaped not just by follower counts, but by how often AI systems reference them.
For brands and agencies, this also means a shift — choosing a creator partner now requires looking beyond the usual stats to their visibility in AI search as well. GEO could become one of the fastest-growing disciplines in marketing over the coming years.
