Google Rolls Out August 2026 Spam Update

Google has announced the rollout of its August 2026 spam update. According to the company, the update applies worldwide across all languages, and full rollout could take several days.
On its status dashboard, Google wrote: "The August 2026 spam update has been released; it is global and applies to all languages. Rolling out may take several days."
This marks Google's third spam update announced in 2026, following the previous one in June 2026. Sites that don't engage in spam usually aren't affected by such updates, though legitimate sites are occasionally caught up unintentionally.
For marketers and SEO professionals, updates like this are another reminder to keep an eye on site traffic and catch unwanted drops early — especially as AI-generated answers make up a growing share of search results by the day.
